5 ace drinks to serve for Wimbledon

It is that time of year once again when we all don the summer whites, step out to meet (what is hopefully!) the peak of summer and raise a glass for the age old tradition of Wimbledon. But what to serve in the glass? Don’t worry we have you covered!

Champagne wishes and Wimbledon dreams
No Wimbledon celebration is complete without Champagne paired with strawberries and cream. It is a killer combo and it gets you right in the middle of the action – over 28,000 bottle were served last year at the gig so it only appropriate to have your share while you watch.

Careful though too much can make your head spin

Recommendation:Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Brut NV (currently on sale), Veuve Clicquot Brut NV Champagne

The Classic: Pimm’s Cup

What is an English tradition like Wimbledon without a proper English beverage? Pimm’s is one that may best enjoyed at home rather than at the tournament itself.  Not only does this drink tend to be at the end of a very long queue, but it will cost you nearly £8 at the club and according to last year was averaging around a third of the strength that it should be.  So don’t risk it – self-serve this one to make sure it enjoyed as it was intended!

Recommendation: Pimm’s Cup. Looking for a twist on the original? Try Sipsmith Summer Cup

The TNT G&T:  The tried and true (TNT) for those who are less inclined to walk on the sweeter side of life, nothing beats a Gin & Tonic, particularly in summer time. G&Ts have had a serious resurgence (but let’s be real have they ever been out of style?) of late with all the artisan gins that are now out there on the market. It can be ruthless out on the court – your G&T on the sidelines shouldn’t be.

Recommendation: One we are loving right now- Bathtub Gin or Sipsmith

White wine: Whether it is light and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot Grigio or something a bit more adventurous, having a go to is essential. Have it on hand for those mid-week evenings and you can serve it chilled all on your own.

Recommendation: Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc or feeling adventurous? Try As Caixas Godello 2014 Martín Codax

Prosecco: Prosecco is so hot, hot, hot right now and there are some great quality Proseccos to be had at the moment – so make sure you haven’t missed this craze. And have it chilled and ready for what we can only hope is a victory for our hero.

Any and all of these drinks should be enjoyed throughout Wimbledon, the hardest part is now to choose which one will be raised to celebrate the winner.
